The Challenge
Enterprise Tech Solutions provides workflow management software to Fortune 500 companies. Despite strong functionality, their platform had a 35% abandonment rate within the first month of use, and customer satisfaction scores were significantly below industry benchmarks. The complex interface, poor onboarding experience, and lack of guidance were creating barriers to adoption.
Research & Insights
Through extensive user research, we identified critical pain points:
- • Onboarding: New users were overwhelmed by 200+ features they didn't understand
- • Navigation: Information architecture was inconsistent and confusing
- • Workflows: Common tasks required 8+ steps with unclear outcomes
- • Support: Users were unable to find help within the interface itself
Design Solution
We redesigned the entire platform from the ground up, focusing on progressive disclosure and contextual guidance. Key improvements:
Guided Onboarding
Interactive onboarding experience that guided new users through essential workflows, reducing time-to-first-value from 2 hours to 15 minutes.
Information Architecture Redesign
Reorganized navigation based on user mental models and task frequency. Introduced progressive disclosure to reduce cognitive load.
Workflow Optimization
Reduced average task completion steps from 8 to 3 through intelligent defaults and smart shortcuts for power users.
Contextual Help System
Integrated help system providing just-in-time guidance, tooltips, and educational content without leaving the interface.
